Warsaw Climate Change Conference - November 2013
The 19th session of the Conference of the Parties to the UNFCCC and the 9th session of the Conference of the Parties serving as the Meeting of the Parties to the Kyoto Protocol will take place from 11 to 22 November. The conference will be held at the National Stadium in Warsaw, Poland.

The Global Landscapes Forum combines into one event two of the world’s most influential annual conferences on the role of forests and agriculture in mitigating and adapting to climate change: Forest Day and Agriculture, Landscapes and Livelihoods Day.

UN Climate Change Conference in Warsaw keeps governments on a track towards 2015 climate agreement

(Warsaw, 23 November 2013) The UN Climate Change Conference in Warsaw ended on Saturday, keeping governments on a track towards a universal climate agreement in 2015 and including significant new decisions that will cut emissions from deforestation and on loss and damage.

High Level Panel on the role of the land sector and forests at COP19/CMP9

High Level Panel event on the land sector and forests was held on Monday, November 18th during COP19/MP9. Panel was organized by the COP19/CMP9 Presidency with the cooperation of Finland and the support from the UNFCCC secretariat. Event was co-chaired by Rachmat Witoelar from Indonesia and Ville Niinistö from Finland.

City mayors and regional leaders discuss at COP19/CMP9

November 21st was the day when the first Cities and Sub-national Dialogue in the history of COP took place. The dialogue consisted of two segments, each with groups of selected Ministers, Mayors and sub-national leaders and representatives of civil society who were discussing mitigation and adaptation at a local scale. Debate was opened by COP19/CMP9 President Marcin Korolec, followed by UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon. Discussion was moderated by CEO of Climate Group, Mark Kenber.

I regret the fact that some NGOs decided to leave the COP19 climate conference to express their disapproval towards the extending negotiations.

High Level Assembly concerning climate and clean air during COP19/CMP9

On November 21st during the 19th UNFCCC Conference of Parties meeting of High Level Assembly of the Climate and Clean Air Coalition (CCAC) took place. Poland which joined the Coalition in February 2013 presented their achievements regarding the climate and air protection.
